I didn’t think I’d ever be talking about fillers & botox on my blog, but here I am doing exactly that. To be honest, whenever I thought about fillers or botox, I never thought I’d get them done. I’ve seen a lot of people who have gotten work done and it’s never looked natural, so I wanted to stay away from it. I get headaches/migraines very often (2-3x a week), and when researching ways to deal with it, I came across botox. Since then, I’ve warmed up to the idea of it, especially if it would help me get rid of my pain.
After going to Pearl Beauty Bar for teeth whitening a couple months ago, I’ve followed their journey to their new location and added services – like fillers & botox from Bare Beauty Nurses. I started to follow their Instagram to see what they’re all about and what services they provide. They specialize in lip fillers (for both natural & full looking lips), and their work is great! I came across a giveaway they were holding for cheek and jawline fillers and I entered on a whim. I still don’t remember why I entered because that wasn’t something I was even looking to get; I wanted botox for my headaches!
Well luckily for me, I won their giveaway and went in to get fillers! I brought my friend so she could take photos and see what exactly happens because she’s looking to get botox done. Bare Beauty Nurses is located inside Pearl Beauty Bar, in a cozy room that was specifically designed by Linh. I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect since none of my friends have ever gotten fillers. Linh was so sweet and went over all the products she was going to use on me and what to expect. She was going to use Stylage Dermal Filler injections on me, and actually had a rep from Stylage come talk about the product and show how to inject it.
When getting fillers, they first cleanse your skin around the area where the injection will be going in, and apply a numbing cream for at least 20-30 minutes. After your skin is completely numb, they pinch the area so the needle can easily pierce your skin. They poke a hole in your skin with a sharp needle, remove it, and go back with a blunt ended needle. This way they can inject the fillers without worrying about piercing you even further. The initial needed was a bit painful, so I can only imagine how it would feel without the numbing cream! The jawline contouring didn’t feel as painful as the cheek contouring, but I asked Linh to continue pinching and massaging the areas where the needles are going so it can distract me from that pain. It definitely worked!
The appointment wasn’t long at all, and Linh was very professional throughout the entire process. She even made it easy for my friend to take pictures and film so we could get the right angles. My face was a bit sore for a day or so, and I did experience some bruising. But it’s nothing I didn’t expect, so I wasn’t worried at all. The final outcome wasn’t that different, and only 2 people actually noticed a difference (but I think they noticed the redness more than anything). I’m happy the results weren’t completely different than what I started off with, which is nice because if someone is going in to get work done for their self-confidence, this would be a great procedure to get done! You won’t have everyone asking you what you’ve had done, but you’ll be way more confident.
After this experience, I am a changed woman! I definitely don’t think fillers are that bad – as long as you don’t overdo it. I would be open to more fillers, probably just for my tear troughs as that’s what bothers me. I also really want to one day get botox for my headaches/migraines.. so I’ll just take this all in slowly, I don’t want to get addicted haha.
