Ever since Sephora gave away Tarte’s blush (in paaarty) away for a birthday freebie in 2017, I have really liked Tarte’s products. I tried not to wear the blush so often because I wanted to make it last as long as I could (even though I could’ve bought my another one.. lol). Well it’s been almost 2 years and I decided to just buy a new one so I could wear it more often. I was looking around on Sephora and saw that the one blush goes for $38. Then I saw their Mood: Nude Color Collection Set,which includes the same blush among other great products for the same price.
Tarte’s Mood: Nude Color Collection Set ($38 CDN) includes five eye, cheek, and lip products that are perfect for day or night. These products include ingredients such as amazonian clay (which is said to provide longer and truer makeup wear), mineral pigments (which soothe and soften skin), and vitamin E (which acts as an emollient and antioxidant). Each product is also vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten free.
Included in the set, are Tarte’s:
0.08 oz/ 2.5 g Clay Pot Waterproof Liner in Rose Gold
0.07 oz/ 2 g Tarteist™ Metallic Shadow in Exposed
0.05 oz/ 1.5 g Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Paaarty
0.034 oz/ 1 mL Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Birthday Suit
0.13 oz/ 4 mL Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-In-1 Mascara in Black
Clay Pot Waterproof Liner in Rose Gold
This liner is oil-free and budge-proof and can also double as a creamy eyeshadow. I had purchased this eyeliner months ago in black, but I didn’t love it. It was almost too creamy, and didn’t seem to get an opaque enough of a colour to have a solid black line (I ended up returning it). I don’t know why, but even with that experience, I was expecting more from this eyeliner. When used as an eyeliner, it is almost too sheer. It gives a great shimmer effect, but I would definitely not use this as a traditional liner for doing a winged liner at least; you’d barely see it! However, it looks great when I use it on my lower lashline or even in my upper crease.
This creamy eyeshadow is a wonderful metallic rose gold. I honestly wasn’t expecting such a strong payoff with this eyeshadow, so I was pleasantly surprised! When first applying, I was expecting this to go on like any other eyeshadow and be more “powdery” and have some fallout. This metallic eyeshadow goes on so smoothly and doesn’t leave any creases! It is super blendable, even when I used it with other branded eyeshadows. If you’re one to create your own magnetic compact, you’ll be happy to hear this eyeshadow can be popped out!
This is the blush that I was originally going to purchase and then saw this mini collection. I am actually disappointed because the blush is a completely different colour than the freebie one I received 2 years ago. The older shade had more of a pink tone, and the one currently being sold is more brown/nude toned. I do really like each shade, but I wanted to get the original shade. The formula is great and they both blend so nicely on my skin. I have no issues with this blush at all, other than the shade being off from the one I previously had.
This liquid lipstick has such an amazing finish, that I’m still surprised by it after multiple uses. It’s a full coverage, yet light, velvety lipstick that dries with a matte finish. It doesn’t dry out your lips like other liquid lipsticks – this one stays velvety for sure and is long-wearing. The only issue I had with it, was it dried a lot darker than I was expecting on my lips. I actually like the colour once it’s applied, rather than what it looks like in the bottle. I’m not sure if that’s how it is for other people or if it’s just my skin tone and my perceived image of what I thought it would look like.
Among all the nude/rose gold items included in this collection is Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara. This is Tarte’s bestselling vegan mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, and conditions. It’s also free of parabens and phthalates. I personally just think this mascara is average. There’s nothing about it that “wowed” me, and I don’t think I would repurchase this as it’s quite expensive for an ordinary mascara. I’m also not a huge fan of the packaging – it feels odd to hold while applying mascara.
What do you think of Tarte’s Mood: Nude Color Collection Set? For the price, it is definitely worth it! I love being able to pay a good price for mini sizes of products that I want to try out before purchasing the standard sizes in case I don’t love the product. This worked in my favour this time because I wasn’t too happy with the mascara or eyeliner. Although the blush is pretty, I just don’t love that the colour was different than my original blush.
