During the summer I tend to break out more because I’m outside more and get sweaty. Makeup and sweat never mix well… especially when you can’t wash your face for a while. I do care about my skin year round, but in the summer I focus more on skin clearing products rather than hydrating products. My skincare regime includes everything from face washes, face scrubs, toners, masks, and moisturizers.
This year I’ve really taken a liking to The Body Shop’s Tea Tree line. I use their Tea Tree Oil Skin Clearing Facial Wash every morning when I wake up and again at night when I’m washing all my makeup off. Regardless if I’m wearing makeup or not, I will still use it twice a day. Sometimes I even use it with my Clarisonic Mia 2 for a deep clean! In the evenings, I add in some other products to my regime. About once every 2 weeks, I will use The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Skin Clearing Clay Face Mask to help with any breakouts. I will always follow up with The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Skin Clearing Mattifying Facial Toner. After about 5-10 minutes, I apply their Tea Tree Oil Night Lotion.
I do use some other great products for my regime as well. Every morning before applying my makeup, I use Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I would rather use a moisturizer that has SPF in it, especially for summer, but I find that this moisturizer really keeps my skin hydrated all day. Once a week I also use St. Ives Apricot Scrub to get rid of dead skin and to get my skin prepped for a face mask (did you see the custom face scrub I made in New York with St. Ives? Check it out here)! I mentioned before that I use The Body Shop’s tea tree mask every 2 weeks, and that’s because the weeks in between, I use Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores. I find this helps with deep cleansing my skin – especially for my blackheads! It’s not a miracle worker, but I like the idea of constantly using it. My pores are really small, so it’s hard to get rid of my blackheads without popping them… but I find these charcoal masks at least lessen the amount of them.
What is your skincare regime like?
Do you switch your products based on the weather or do you switch up products when you run out? Let me know! I’m always on the hunt for some new products to add to my skincare regime.
