Mascara is one of my favourite items to use when putting on makeup. Some times I feel like it’s more of a chore.. especially when I have to review them. I used to be so excited to get mascara but after getting some pretty interesting types, I am more skeptical about them. Givenchy’s Noir Interdit Mascara is definitely a mascara that made me raise an eyebrow. I received this product for free from the Canadian Beauty Bloggers network.
Givenchy’s Noir Interdit Mascara ($38) creates a lash extension effect with its new 90° bendable brush. Bend the brush 90° and start to apply the mascara from root to tip. Then you brush them up in a zig zag motion for more length and definition. You then unbend the mascara wand so it’s back to being straight, and then apply mascara again to build more volume.
This mascara doesn’t do it for me.. the bendable wand makes no sense, and it’s something that just feels awkward when applying mascara. It will definitely take some time to get used to. I prefer to use this mascara with the wand in its normal state rather than bending it. The bristles itself are plastic, and I’ve found myself to poke my eyes on more than one occasion. The formula is nice, but I can’t wear it alone. I definitely need to layer another mascara over top to actually build volume. Did I mention the scent? It has a scent. A very perfume-like scent. Not something I’d ever look for in a mascara, and definitely not something I care for. Overall, this mascara is good as a base under other mascara’s, but for the $38 price tag.. I would take a pass on this and use something else!
